This lady has come through a lot over the years

Anastacia might have experienced some drama in her first Strictly Come Dancing dance-off but it’s nothing compared to what she’s previously been through.

The singer – who caused controversy when she couldn’t perform again due to injury, meaning the result was based on the public vote and she was allowed to stay in the competition – has faced a heartbreaking succession of events over the years, from relationship troubles to gruelling health battles.

Anastacia talks joining Strictly: ‘I want to challenge myself’

Here is the sad story of what Anastacia, 48, has been through…

Her father leaving

Anastacia was just three when her dad Robert Newkirk left her mother, leaving her alone to raise the singer and her siblings Shawn and Brian. The sad experience led Anastacia to write powerful tune Left Outside Alone, and she admits that she had little contact with Robert before he passed away.

’He was a manic depressive,’ the singer told The Scotsman in 2008. ‘The last time I contacted him I was in my early teens. I had all these unanswered questions in my heart.

‘In a way, once I got cancer and you wonder about whether you are going to be living or not living, I wrote that song.

‘I had a hard time singing it on tour knowing that the questions were never going to be answered, but in a way, when he passed, although I felt saddened, I felt enlightened. I could love him again. I can talk about him.’

Crohn’s disease

As well as the sadness of her dad leaving, Anastacia experienced further difficulties when growing up. The star began suffering from Crohn’s disease as a teenager, which left her bloated and on drugs to treat it.

She even had her small intestine taken out at 13, something that left her wheelchair-bound.

‘They had cut right through my stomach muscles and I was in a wheelchair for a while because I had no core muscles to support my weight,’ she revealed to The Mail On Sunday in 2009. ‘I was very angry about that scar for a very long time.

‘I thought my life was over. No guy would ever look at me and see me as pretty, or want to touch me or love me.’

Eventually the American star learned to love her scar and happily started wearing midriff-bearing tops in her 20s.

Divorce

In 2007 Anastacia married her bodyguard Wayne Newton but sadly their wedded bliss didn’t last long as they divorced in 2010. Like the trauma of her dad leaving, this experience led the singer to write a song about her heartache.

Speaking about the tune Pendulum in 2014, she explained: ‘It’s totally about the loss of my marriage, but it’s a beautiful song. I think I lost a bit of myself for a while. My career got so busy I’d be thinking: “Who the hell I am?”

‘I used to believe in happy-ever-afters. Now, I have a bit more of a realistic approach… If I still believed in happy-ever-after the way I used to, I wouldn’t have been able to write this album.’

Heart problems

Further health problems hit Anastacia in 2008 when she learned she had supraventricular tachycardia, a heart condition which causes varied and rapid heartbeats. Rather than treat this with an operation, the star has chosen to use medication.

‘The doctors say it’s a weakness triggered by stress,’ she told Hello! in 2008. ‘I’ll be sitting chatting and suddenly my heart will beat like I’m running a marathon. I’ve fainted backstage because I can’t get rid of the palpitations.

‘They can fix it by putting two electrodes into my heart and shocking it, but I don’t want more surgery right now, so I’m on medication. The side effect is fatigue.’

Breast cancer

Anastacia faced a battle with breast cancer when she was still in her early 30s. The disease was discovered in 2003 when she had gone into hospital to have a breast reduction and she then had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy to successfully treat it.

Sadly the singer faced a second battle with breast cancer when she was diagnosed again in 2013. This time she elected to have a double mastectomy and admits this was incredibly tough both physically and mentally.

‘That was a difficult time, not least because it felt like I was losing part of my femininity,’ she tells the Daily Mail. ‘But hardships are what shape a person and I was determined to remain as strong as I could.

‘The operation involved taking a muscle from my back to use as part of the breast reconstruction. It took a year to recover and even now there are certain moves I can’t make when I’m dancing on Strictly because of the impact it has on my back – as anyone who’s watched me will know!’

Anastacia announced when she joined the Strictly line-up that she’d be donating her fee to Cancer Research UK and aims to raise as much money as possible for the cause.

Throughout all of this heartbreak, the singer has understandably been praised for her strength and courage. Yet she admitted to the Metro in 2014 that she struggles just like anyone else would.

‘I’m just as fragile and broken as anyone else at times,’ she said. ‘We all have to get through our stuff as best we can.

‘Some of us have strong armour, some of us don’t. Sometimes my armour has been very strong and sometimes it’s been very fragile.’

Hey Sam! What do you think you’re like as a mum?

While he’s still a baby, there aren’t any rules yet but as he gets older, I think I’m going to be quite a strict parent.

Has having a child taught you anything about yourself?

Patience and routine. Babies thrive on routine so we have one when it comes to playtime.

Aww! What’s been the biggest challenge so far?

Teething. The bottom teeth weren’t too bad and I thought: ‘Oh he’s teethed,’ and then not so long ago he cut four top teeth all in one go and it was so horrible. You feel helpless and all you want to do is take the pain away.

How do you spend the weekends as a family?

I don’t do a lot to be honest. On Saturday, me, Paul, baby Paul, Billie [Sam’s sister], Greg [Billie’s fiancé] and Nelly [Billie and Greg’s two-year-old daughter] will do something, whether it’s breakfast or a trip to the farm. On Sunday we’ll go to London, go shopping and get some lunch.

Ever had any nappy fails?

I flew with the baby by myself to Portugal and as we took off we had a poo explosion. It was like, wow, how can this smell come from a tiny little baby!?

[Now laughs] Is baby Paul ever naughty?

He’s got all the toys you can imagine but he’ll crawl over to the Sky box  wires. I put a blanket over it but he’s so clever; he pulls down the blanket and touches all the buttons. He’s crawling everywhere now!

Does he make you laugh?

He does this thing with his hands like he’s dancing. When he gets excited, he’ll push his left hand round and punch the air!

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

IBS affects around one in five people** at some point in their life, with women being twice as likely to suffer.

‘Keep a diet diary and ask a nutritionist for help with identification. Chew food properly (30 times) and avoid drinking fluids with meals.’ Shona adds: ‘Never eat when you’re in a rush and make sure there’s enough fibre in your diet.’

Adult Acne

Not just a teenage problem. In fact, five per cent of women over the age of 25 have acne.
Dr Ross Perry of Cosmedics clinics tells Now: ‘It’s very distressing and can lead to stress and anxiety about going out. It can particularly affect one’s confidence at work.’
So how to cure?
‘Like with most skin conditions they’re ’managed’ rather than ‘cured’. This can be done with medicated creams and prescription medicines as well as laser and skin peel treatments,’ explains

Hey Kimberley! How’s the second pregnancy going?

It’s really good so far, but it’s much harder when you’ve got a little one to run around after.

What are you like as a mum?

I’m quite relaxed, but I am a bit of a worrier. All you want to do as a mother is protect your child.

Do you have an essential parenting product?

Pampers nappies. They’re a firm fixture in our household – and will be for a lot longer! Every packet you purchase now buys one tetanus vaccine for those who need it most. It’s an amazing way to help other mothers.

Is Bobby ever naughty?

He has little strops but they don’t last very long as I’ll distract him. It makes me want to laugh, though!

Does Bobby have a favourite kids’ TV show?

Swashbuckle on CBeebies. He does the whole eye patch thing.

What does he love you to cook?

One of the few things we all eat together is spaghetti Bolognese. Bobby also loves pasta with chicken, pesto and tomatoes.

Any embarrassing mum moments?

When I first had Bobby, I was trying to take him places and I didn’t know how to put my pram down properly and there were paparazzi laughing at me!

It’s imagined that this is a big source of relief for the Girls Aloud star and former X Factor judge. A source told Now earlier this week that the fact that she is legally married to one man, but in a very serious relationship with another is a source of great stress:

‘Liam’s quite old-fashioned in his views and he wants to marry Cheryl. He’d rather have children in wedlock than out, but until she gets divorced she can’t marry him. That’s understandably causing tension.’

For months, rumours have grown claiming that ‘Chiam’ are expecting a baby, and despite some very suggestive ‘bump’ pictures emerging, neither have acknowledged it officially. Perhaps having Jean-Bernard out of their lives is all that’s needed for them to finally address the rumours.

‘Cheryl’s caught between two men who want very different things,’ our source revealed.

But after all of this, their love was sadly not meant to be, as it’s been reported that Joey, 26, ended things due to her desire to socialise in her West London haunt, Chelsea.

‘It’s been a tumultuous few weeks with Katie having to talk about Kieran’s affair as she spoke about her new memoirs — then Kieran discovering she’d spent time with Scotty T while they were apart.

‘Now they are trying to enjoy themselves, which is why Katie let loose on the karaoke as she loves to sing.’

The reality star and business woman has made her feelings very clear

The Apprentice finalist and Celebrity Big Brother star recently jetted away to Dubai for a mini-break with friend Rachael Lalji , leaving daughters Dixie, 5, and Indigo Grace, born in August 2016, at home with husband Andrew Colllins.

Though Luisa, 29, has been giving her fans plenty of images from her lavish trip, one in particular sparked debate in the comments section:

‘Current situation, nursing hangover with iced coffee,’ she began her caption, posted on Saturday (15th October). ‘Home tomorrow to my babies been a short but sweet break.’

While many were praising how good she looked, especially having given birth mere weeks ago, there were some who were shocked at the fact that she’d left her young children at home to go on a separate holiday.

‘Literally could not leave my newborn baby and go away.. its just not right,’ reads a comment from one, while another adds: ‘Couldn’t leave my baby so soon !!!! Tho that breaks looks amazing. (sic)’

Thankfully, Luisa’s had a lot of support from fans, parents and non-parents alike who have supported her decision.

‘Mummies need a break too. You’re still a individual who needs time for yourself, you’re not just a mummy,’ writes one – well said!

However, feisty Lu isn’t one to let her battles be fought for her – and later posted a succinct video to show exactly what she thinks of the comments…by sticking her middle finger up, on a loop.

‘Reading the ridiculous comments on my Instagram bikini pic like…’ says Luisa, followed by a very explicit hashtag. Yikes – guess that’s them told!

We can only assume that this response holds true for others who’ve commented on a later picture of her smoking shisha (flavoured tobacco)…

This fling did NOT end well

In one of the most unexpected pairings of 2016, DIY SOS frontman Nick Knowles  and Emmerdale actress Gemma Oaten were spotted canoodling after a black tie event in September.

Gemma revealed all about her surprise fling with Nick, 54, in the Sunday Mirror (16th October), telling that he called an end to the romance while they were still in bed together one Sunday morning, as newspaper pictures emerged showing them getting close after an awards ceremony – to get back with estranged wife Jessica. Ouch…

‘I am reluctantly being forced to speak out as I have been painted in the worst way possible,’ she says.

‘I don’t think he is deep down malicious, but he needs to know he can’t treat people like this.’

However, Nick was keen to get his side of events out into the open, and posted a typed message to social media in response. He defines his relationship with Gemma as happening during a ‘turbulent’ time in his life, dealing with a miscarriage and Jessica being diagnosed with cancer – and clarifies that it occurred during a separation from Jessica, with no overlap.

He writes: ‘Life is not about what happens to you, it’s about how you deal with it.

‘This year we faced a miscarriage, the break down of our marriage and cancer without being disrespectful about each other at any point.

He then accuses Gemma to have spoken out for financial gain, writing: ‘It is unfortunate we are having to relive it purely so someone can financially gain from exploiting our private life.

‘With everything that’s happened this year, even discussing this seems very trivial in comparison to what we have dealt with and are still dealing with.

‘As always, our answer is united, as we are. We have enjoyed eight years as best friends and nothing will change that,’ he concludes the statement.

Gemma, 32, then hit back on Twitter, saying that she was ‘forced’ to set the record straight, and has donated her fee for the chat to charity.

X Factor viewers saw another act leave the competition this weekend but it was Sharon Osbourne who was the talk of the show for all the wrong reasons…

The 64-year-old judge had fans gobsmacked when she forgot her act Saara Aalto’s name as she was about to perform in the sing-off – and this is the THIRD time she’s struggled to remember it.

Sharon looked a bit panicked as Dermot O’Leary asked her to introduce her act and she began by saying: ‘Okay everybody, now it’s the songbird from abroad…’

She then paused as Louis Walsh said ‘Finland’ to her in an attempt to remind her of the Scandinavian singer’s name.

Sharon then muttered to Louis ‘What’s her name?’ before he blurted it out for her and she shouted: ‘Saara!’

AWKWARD. Saara went on to beat Nicole Scherzinger’s act Freddy Parker and kept her place in the competition but stunned viewers were still reeling from Sharon’s incredibly cringey blooper.

‘Omg Sharon forgetting Saara’s name on #xfactor tonight is literally the most cringe thing I’ve EVER seen on TV,’ one wrote on Twitter.

Another said: ‘Did Sharon actually forget Saara’s name? I feel so sorry for Saara she has had a rough ride I feel for her so much #Xfactor’

Former contestants were baffled too.

Kitty Brucknell Tweeted: ‘This is just embarrassing. #xfactor and insulting to an amazing performer.’

Many seem to agree with this idea that Sharon’s misdemeanour was actually a bit of an insult.

‘Who else thinks it’s actually quite disgusting that Sharon can’t be bothered to remember her acts names? #xfactor #SharonOsbourne #crap,’ one viewer posted, whilst another added: ‘Don’t watch X Factor. LOLs. Sharon has since spoken out about the awkwardness of it all and says it happened simply because her mind was elsewhere, with so much going on in the show.

‘I was thinking about something else,’ she explained on ITV’s Good Morning Britain on Monday morning. ‘I wish I could come up with a better excuse, I was thinking about songs, and I wondered what that duke box is going to land on, what are we going to do next week and then I’m like “oh she’s in the bottom two again” and all of this is going on in my head and then they go “it’s you it’s you” and I’m like “what? What am I doing?”

‘I’ve got one coming from Louis [Walsh], one coming from Simon [Cowell] and they’re both telling me different towns, different countries, different names and they do it to wind me up and I fall for it.’

Georgia May Foote has moved on from her Strictly Come Dancing ex boyfriend Giovanni Pernice by reportedly hooking up with model George Alsford.

The pair apparently met in the offices of Select Model Management, who they are both signed with. And it seems like the ex-Coronation Street actress has really taken his breath away.

A source told the Daily Star: ‘George fancies the pants off Georgia. They met at the offices of their agency and have been meeting up as much as they can around her hectic work schedule.

So it seems that 25-year-old Georgia has definitely moved on from Giovanni, who she started dating in January after they were paired together on Strictly last year. Unfortunately, they ended things in August.

At the time, she wrote: ‘It is with great sadness we have decided to split up. There is nobody else involved. Although it was not an easy decision to make, sometimes you realise that it is better be friends and this is one of those times.’

Louis Walsh has given an insight into what might lie ahead for Chiam and admits he thinks they’ll go the distance.

‘Can I be honest with you about Cheryl?’ says Louis, 64. ‘I think Liam and Cheryl are going to work…

‘He’s a nice guy and he’s in love with her. He’ll make her happy.’

Awww. Cheryl, 33, was a judge on The X Factor alongside Louis in 2014 and also remained on the panel for last year’s series, which Louis wasn’t a part of.

He thinks that the singer’s romance with One Direction star Liam, 23, has given her a boost following her whirlwind marriage to Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini which ended last year.

‘I think she was in a bad place over the last two years,’ Louis tells Event magazine. ‘And she brought her misery to the show.

‘Yes, it’s hard to leave it outside, but this year we’re a happy panel.’

Cheryl and Liam’s relationship became public knowledge in February and in recent weeks they’ve faced heavy speculation that they’re expecting their first child together, something nether of them have commented on.

But whether there’s a mini Chiam on the way or not, Louis thinks the future could be promising professionally as well as personally for the couple.

The music manager believes that Chezza could climb back up the charts again – with the help of her songwriter boyfriend.

‘I think she could have a hit if she wants but she has to choose the right song,’ Louis explains.

‘She’s no Mariah Carey or Celine Dion but I’d put her voice in there along with Kylie, Britney or Katy Perry.

‘She just needs the right songs. Maybe Liam can write her some. He’s a good songwriter.’

It’s not a total love-in from Louis though. The X Factor judge isn’t convinced that Liam – who is currently working on solo music – will be a star away from 1D as he thinks Harry Styles is the only member of the group who can achieve this.

‘Too much money, too much success too quickly,’ he says of One Direction. ‘Simon [Cowell] created monsters and that was it.

‘They all think they’re going to be solo stars. They’re not. Only Harry. That’s it.

‘Then they’ll be sorry they broke up and it’ll be too late because there’s another boy band. That’s what always happens in boy bands.’

Ouch. Ah well, at least he’s chuffed for Chiam anyway.

It doesn't look good for the reality romance

Fans fear Marnie Simpson and Lewis Bloor have split up after only two months together.

Speculation began when the Geordie Shore lass deleted all traces of him from her Instagram, before unfollowing on the social media site.

Then the former The Only Way Is Essex star posted a cryptic tweet: ‘One door closes another one opens that’s how life works’.

Marnie wrote in a now-deleted tweet: ‘Over before it begun.’

So all the signs seem to point at the end of their relationship. The pair’s romance flourished on Celebrity Big Brother in August, but not everyone was convinced that the relationship was for real.

Former castmate Chantelle Connelly recently slated their romance to OK! Online: ‘I said I thought her relationship with Lewis was about as what me and Gary had.

‘She’ll probably being straight back to Aaron [Chalmers] next series of Geordie Shore claiming she loves him again.’

This isn’t the first time that their romance has been labelled as fake though. Throughout their entire stint on CBB, they were quick to defend the relationship as ‘not a showmance’.

It’s not been a particularly good month for Marnie Simpson by all accounts The star has had to pull out of a series of press appearances, and even might not make it to film Geordie Shore because she’s been so ill.

And over the weekend she got her fans in Nashville very excited by telling them that she is keen to have another baby with boyfriend Simon Konecki.

The 28-year-old, who is already a mum to son Angelo, said: ‘My son is about to turn four very, very soon.

‘I’m starting to get very emotional about it because I feel like once they turn four, they’re not really your actual baby anymore.

‘So my womb is starting  to ache a little bit. It’s like, ‘Baby, baby, baby. Need a baby, need a baby’. I’m not pregnant. I won’t get pregnant until the end of the tour.’

So, if she needs to wait until the end of her tour, that could mean that Adele may get preggo before the end of the year! Wooo.

She has 13 dates left of her tour which ties up next month then, her and Simon will hopefully turn on the Barry White and start making sweet, sweet luuurve!

Despite the outcry about Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwill allegedly miming, some fans defended the group against the accusations.

‘isn’t it 2016? why do people still think little mix are miming on stage?’ one Twitter user wrote.

In fact lots of the band’s admirers couldn’t stop gushing about their performance.

There’s been no comment from Little Mix about the miming allegations but they certainly seemed to enjoy their set.

The release of Shoutout To My Ex comes at an exciting time for the group. Not only is their fourth album on the way next month but they’re also about to bring out their own book which details the highs and lows of their lives over the past few years.

A sensational excerpt from the Our World tome has already proved juicy as it features Perrie revealing how her relationship with former fiancé Zayn Malik ended last year – and it goes AGAINST his version of events.

‘It was horrible, the worst time in my life,’ she explains. ‘A four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that.

‘Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.’

Rylan Clark-Neal has defended Simon Cowell after he made a gay sex jibe at him on live TV.

The music mogul appeared on an Xtra Factor Q&A with the other judges when he made the joke. Rylan and co-host Matt Edmondson asked the judges to pick a door, which would open to a caller that would ask a question.

At one point, Rylan remarks: ‘I love a front door.’

And Simon replied: ‘I thought you liked a back door.’

After some gasps from the TV audience, Rylan, not moved by the playground jibe, shot back: ‘Oh Simon! Shall I show you how much?’

The X Factor boss must’ve realised his mistake, as he quickly said sorry: ‘I apologise. I shouldn’t have said that. That’s why I should never do live TV.’

The presenter was quick to defend his boss on Twitter. First he wrote: ‘Thanks for watching. And @SimonCowell made a joke, I took it… (another jokes) all love and laughs on #XtraFactor’

Then decided to write a bigger statement later: ‘Genuinely wasn’t offended by Simon last night but understand some people might be it was just a joke between friends and meant extremely lighthearted,

Lauren Goodger made her long-awaited return to TOWIE on Sunday night’s show and she’s already caused controversy.

The 30-year-old appeared on our screens again to support pal Megan McKenna – who’s struggling following revelations that boyfriend Pete Wicks secretly messaged girls behind her back – and lots of viewers reacted to the scenes on social media.

Lauren Goodger hits back at trolls after admitting: ‘I’m starving!’

But Lauren isn’t happy about reports suggesting the response to her comeback was mainly negative.

The Essex girl hit out after spotting an article which claimed that fans had slammed her return and criticised her appearance.

‘Ididn’t see any of that?I have an amazing response..,’ Lauren Tweeted. ‘Are we reading the same tweets/Instagram? I’ve had far more love than hate 🤔’

She also posted a selfie and added: ‘and what’s happened to my face? I don’t have lip fillers anymore? What’s wrong with it ’

To prove her point Lauren has been reTweeting positive messages from fans hailing her return as a success.

‘@LaurenGoodger is back, queen b returns! #slaying,’ one post says, whilst another reads: ‘@LaurenGoodger looks incredible .Not many these days that can pull off looking gorgeous without looking totally fake. At last xxxx’

Other viewers have praised Lauren for the advice she gave Megan during their catch-up alongside Chloe Sims.

The TOWIE original did get a bit of hate from some but seemed to receive a mainly positive response from social media users.

In her debut return scene Lauren advised Megan on her relationship woes and encouraged her to really think about whether they can work through it.

‘I want you to stay with Pete, because I think he’s good for you,’ she explained.

‘Obviously my loyalty lies with you because you’re my friend, but will you ever forgive him for it? You might want to, but can you?

‘Can you sit at dinner with him, can you sleep with him again? This is what you need to ask yourself.’

Hairdresser and footie fan Luke made his first appearance on the Channel 4 show a couple of weeks ago. Interestingly, that was his first time visiting the family home – and it was all captured on camera, eek! Luckily, it all went very well, with fans expressing how pleased they were to see Scarlett looking so happy.

And we fully agree! Though they’re relatively early on in their relationship, they’ve been through a lot this year. Not only have they moved in together, but Scarlett’s been incredibly busy in her professional life – releasing a best-selling book for one! She’s spoken at length about how much of a support he’s been for her, and it’s great they’ve kept strong through it all.

So just HOW does Fleur stay so trim and toned?

Previously, the X Factor star has admitted to being a ‘gym freak’, going fives a times a week for an hour-and-a-half, and to get her pert bottom she enjoys a LOT of squats with weights. Treadmill running is also another Fleur favourite as she claims it’s great for working the ab area.

Of course, what you eat is just as important as working out. In the past Fleur has opened up about her day-to-day diet admitting that she stays away from white bread, white rice and cereal, instead enjoying beans and eggs on toast every morning for breakfast.

Oh, but occasionally she does indulge in her favourite dessert; banoffee pie.
