Who knew a baking show could cause so much drama?

Following the shock announcement that Channel 4 bosses were taking over the nation’s favourite BBC baking show The Great British Bake Off, viewers have been faced by A LOT of changes.

First we were robbed of the warm eyes of judge Mary Berry and the cheeky innuendos of much-loved presenting duo, Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins (we’re still not over it).

It was then revealed that food writer, Prue Leith and comedians Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig would be stepping up to the plate to join Paul Hollywood on the revamped show next year – which inevitably caused a social media storm. Eeek.

But just as the dust was finally settling on all the GBBO drama, ANOTHER change is set to come our way in the form of a brand new timescale.

Yup, if you were expecting the usual hour-long episode when the show starts again next Autumn, you might be surprised to find out that it will now run for 75 minutes instead.

The 15 minutes extra will allow time for those pesky ad breaks – which means that we don’t have to miss out on any soggy bottoms or collapsed soufflés. Result!

A spokesman for the programme said: ‘We have always promised viewers that they would not be short-changed on the show, even though we are an ad-funded channel.

‘The programme will run for 75 minutes to allow that.’

Luckily, the rest of the show will be keeping its old format of those initial signature bakes, tricky technical challenges and showstopping, well showstoppers.

It’s also been announced that the famous tent we’ve all grown to know and love will remain the same as well as spin-off programme The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice which will still be presented by Jo Brand.

Phew. Let’s hope this is the last of the surprises Channel 4 has in store because we don’t think we could handle any more.
