The only TV guide you’ll need for essential festive viewing

Downton fabby
Walliams and Friend Christmas Special, 10pm, BBC One
Hugh Bonneville joins David Walliams for a series of sketches and they’re seriously funny, too. Hugh rips the pee out of characters like the Countess of Grantham and Alan Sugar. Yep, you need to watch this one.
Best foot forward
Dirty Dancing, 9pm, Channel 5
So it might not be festive but it is bloody brilliant, and the perfect antidote if you’ve had enough of tinsel and leftover Quality Street for now. Patrick Swayze stars as Johnny, the man who never, ever puts Baby in the corner in the best dance film of all time. You will blub.
Good vs evil
Inside No 9 – The Devil of Christmas, 10pm, BBC Two
This creepy/funny spectacular follows a child-punishing demon. Set in Austria in 1977, it’s Krampusnacht, and there’s a devil on the loose who’s out to freak out naughty kids. Enough to make you be extremely well behaved in 2017, even if you’re an adult.
First dance
Happy Feet, 2.10pm, ITV
Christmas isn’t Christmas without animated films for the whole family to enjoy (and possibly have a little boozy snooze during). Meet the Emperor Penguins who want to find soulmates for life… only one can’t sing to attract a mate. But he can do a very special dance. Ridiculously cute, this.
What else is on?
Amazing Spaces Snow Special, 8pm, Channel 4
Gordon Buchanan: Elephant Family and Me, 8pm, BBC Two
Skyfall, 8pm, ITV2
