Auditions are in full swing for The X Factor 2015, so what better time to take a look back at the hands-down best ever auditions?

With the London leg of The X Factor 2015 auditions kicking off this week, we’ve looked back through the X Factor history books to bring you seven of the best ever auditions – including the hilarious effort from John and Edward who later morphed into Jedward, and an adorably young Harry Styles…
1. Rylan Clark
His platinum blonde hair extensions, his clubby remix of Des’ree’s Missing You, his banter (‘Gary, I’ve gotta say: that blazer is LOVE’) – this audition from 2012 was CLASSIC Rylan. Watch and enjoy.
2. Harry Styles
Our heart still skips a beat when we watch a 16-year-old, pre-One Direction Harry belting out Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely. The sly little smirk he gives as the crowd cheers him on at 1:26 hinted at the cheeky personality that lay beneath his angelic good looks.
3. Lucy Spraggan
The Sprag (as she became affectionately known) auditioned with a self-penned song, Last Night (Beer Fear), a ditty about overdoing it on the booze that included witty lines like ‘Last night I told ya I need ya / That’s the last time I drink tequila.’ The song became an instant hit, reaching number 11 in the UK charts. Sadly Lucy had to withdraw from the competition due to illness in week five.
4. John and Edward
From the first moment that Jedward strode confidently onto the X Factor audition stage in matching outfits, proclaiming in pseudo-American accents, ‘Glasgow, how you feeling tonight?’, we knew we were going to love them – and they didn’t disappoint. Who can forget their rendition of Britney Spears’ Oops! I Did It Again? X Factor at it’s bonkers best.
5. Leona Lewis
She may now be a global superstar and The X Factor’s most successful winner ever with 20 million (yes, MILLION) record sales wordlwide, but if you cast your mind alllll the way back to 2006, you’ll recall when Leona Lewis was just a cute-as-a-button hopeful in a pink cardi. Her renditions of Somewhere Over The Rainbow still gives us goosebumps.
6. Ablisa
And to finish, here’s an audition we’ll never forget – for ALL the wrong reasons. Ablisa (that’s Abby and Lisa – see what they did there) started off sweet enough, but it all descended into comical awfulness when they got on the wrong side of the audience, asked guest judge Natalie Imbruglia ‘sorry, but may I ask who are you”‘ and cumulated in one (we’re not sure which) punching the other. Absolute X Factor GOLD.
