Kesha has received an outpouring of support as her contract dispute with Dr Luke continues

Kesha has just received a pretty big show of support from Taylor Swift amidst her ongoing legal issues.
As the Tik Tok singer continues to fight against music producer Dr Luke and Sony, Taylor has given the singer a $250,000 donation to help her cause.
‘In a show of support, Taylor Swift has donated $250,000 to Kesha to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time,’ a spokesperson for Taylor, 26, tells E! News.
Tay isn’t the only star to join those supporting 28-year-old Kesha in the dispute following a court’s ruling that she wouldn’t be allowed a temporary break from her Sony contract and would have to work with Dr Luke if she wanted to make music.
Miley Cyrus has also vented her anger about the situation by posting an Instagram photo of a sign reading: ‘Kesha – I am so angry for you.
‘They were wrong. I’m so sorry.’
Here’s the story of the situation so far:
– In 2014 Kesha filed a lawsuit against songwriter and producer Dr Luke – real name Lukasz Gottwald – alleging that he had abused her physically and emotionally for many years, beginning when she first signed for him aged 18. She also cited this alleged abuse as the reason behind her developing an eating disorder, which she was treated for in rehab in early 2014.
– Dr Luke, 42, then asked a judge to dismiss the ‘defamatory’ allegations and filed his own complaint against Kesha, her mother Pebe Sebert and her manager Jack Rovner. He claimed in the suit that Kesha and Pebe used ‘defamatory statements in an attempt to extort [him] into releasing Kesha from her recording agreement.’
– In June 2015 Kesha added Sony Music as a defendant in the case as she claimed that they should be held responsible for the abuse she alleges to have suffered from Dr Luke.
– After her lawsuit was put on hold, Kesha’s legal team pushed for a preliminary injunction in September 2015 which would temporarily relieve her from her contractual obligations until the case was resolved, allowing her to make music without Dr Luke. It was argued that she’d no longer have a career if she was forced to wait years for the case to be resolved before she could record again.
– In February 2016 a judge denied the request. Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich said Sony would undergo irreparable harm if Kesha did not abide by a contract which demands she make six more albums, it was reported. The decision left Kesha in floods of tears in the courtroom, having earlier seemed hopeful in a Twitter post for her fans.

– After the ruling fans and celebrities alike showed their support for Kesha. Joining Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus in the Kesha camp were Demi Lovato, Lily Allen, Ariana Grande, Lorde and Kelly Clarkson.
Demi has blasted Taylor’s decision to silently donate $250,000 though, having appeared to make a dig at her Shake It Off star by Tweeting: ‘Take something to Capitol Hill or actually speak out about something and then I’ll be impressed.’
She also added in a rant on Instagram: ‘How the f**k am I making this about myself? At least I’m talking about it.
‘Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn’t grow up with money and def haven’t made as much as her. At least I speak up about s*** that’s uncomfortable to talk about rather than trying to be politically correct 24/7.’
