For years we’ve begged for more Friends: a movie! A new series! One episode! A SINGLE PHOTO, MATTHEW PERRY!
Still we try and hope, but, as The Sun has reported, the cast members have repeatedly denied a reunion, and if we piece the quotes together we can finally discover the reason why (read: someone to blame).
Courteney Cox gave an exasperated reply last year: ‘Let it go! We’re not doing it! It’s just not going to happen.’
She adds: ‘We’ve gotten about 80 percent there, but there’s always one person who flakes at the end.
‘I’m not going to name names, but it may or may not be Schwimmer.’

That’s David Schwimmer AKA Ross Gellar, as you probably know from seeing that opening sequence every day for 12 years. Much like his character, it looks like David Schwimmer has taken the whole ‘break’ thing a bit too much to heart.
But others feel that time is a factor. Jennifer Aniston (Rachel Green) feels it’s not been long enough (it’s been a dozen years Jen, there’s been three different Spider-men in that time). She said: ‘Why not wait till we’re really, really old and then put us up there? That would be more interesting.’
She may have a point – the Friends cast as Grandparents and Joey living in Monica and Chandler’s attic sounds exactly like something we need. Though Jennifer may have a reason not rush back to Friends: as a Hollywood actress she’s accumulated an estimated £104 MILLION!
However, Matt LeBlanc feels like too much time has passed (it’s been a dozen years Joey, Busted have got back together in that time).
‘My opinion is that it shouldn’t happen.
‘I mean, nobody wants to see, I certainly don’t wanna see, Joey and Chandler going for a prostate exam. Who wants to see that?
‘Fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. I don’t see it happening.’
Lisa Kudrow, who plays manic Phoebe Buffay, probably gives the most reasoned answer: ‘I don’t think any of us would do it unless [Friends co-creators] David Crane and Marta Kauffman wrote it and I don’t know how they could do it.’
What does Chandler Bing actor Matthew Perry think? Well, he doesn’t have fond memories of the show to start with: ‘It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism.’
Sorry to break your dreams folks but it doesn’t look like a Friends reunion is going to happen. That’s what you get when six extremely talented actors star for a decade in a comedy classic – they’re a little bit in demand elsewhere, and the pressure will never be worth it.
But don’t worry: nothing that’s ever made money can stay un-remade. Give it a few years and we’ll see the Friends REBOOT.
