Joe Swash has been doing a grand job of presenting in recent years but, not gonna lie, we’ve kind of missed seeing him on EastEnders.

So the 34-year-old star has made us very happy by revealing that he’s keen to return to Albert Square after five years away – yay!

OMG! Are Joe Swash and Stacey Solomon dating?

Joe shot to fame when he joined the soap as Mickey Miller in 2003 and remained a fan favourite until he left in 2008.

Mickey then popped up again in 2011 for a guest appearance at brother Darren’s wedding and now Joe wants to bring him back for more.

‘One day I’d love to go back. I love the place,’ the actor reveals.

‘I’m still good friends with everyone up there. One day Mickey will be back.’

Eek, we can’t wait!

It comes following the news that Ross Kemp is set to return for a brief stint as Grant Mitchell as part of an emotional exit storyline for Mitchell matriarch Peggy.

Peggy made a surprise appearance earlier this month to tell son Phil (Steve McFadden) that her cancer had returned and producers have revealed that sadly she’ll pass away in scenes to be shown in spring.

Joe is just as excited as the rest of us to see Grant back though admits it will be difficult to watch Peggy leave for good.

‘I was surprised to hear Grant is coming back,’ Joe tells The Sun. ‘I didn’t think Ross would go back.

‘It’s amazing. So many of the old heroes have gone – Pam St Clement (who played Pat Butcher) and Wendy Richard (Pauline Fowler). It’s nice to have an old character back.

‘I won’t be in tears when Peggy dies but I will be sad. It’s a legend dying.’

Former I’m A Celebrity winner Joe is clearly still a huge fan of the soap and recently shared his joy at EastEnders winning the Best Serial Drama prize at the National Television Awards last week by Tweeting producer Dominic Treadwell Collins.

Fingers crossed we’ll see you back on Albert Square very soon, Joe!
