Former One Direction star Zayn Malik puts THOSE rumours about his break-up to rest

Zayn Malik has opened up about his split from Perrie Edwards for the first time – and has DENIED dumping her by text.
The former One Direction star, 22, broke up with Little Mix singer Perrie in August after more than three years together and around two years since they’d got engaged, sparking a flurry of rumours about why they’d ended their relationship.

It was speculated that Zayn had called it off by sending Perrie, 22, a text but he says he loves her too much to ever do that.
‘If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative. I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message,’ he says in a new interview with Fader.
‘I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that. She knows that, I know that, and the public should know that as well.’
Despite this declaration, Zayn is coy about revealing exactly why he and Perrie split up.
‘I don’t want to explain why or what I did,’ he admits. ‘I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.’

The singer – who left 1D in March – hints in the revealing chat that there are things that went on this summer which he’s not necessarily proud of.
Now he’s using those experiences in his new life as a solo artist and says they’ve added to the meaning of his debut album.
‘I can map every lyric and every note to mean something to me,’ he explains. ‘It’s a snapshot of my life and the thoughts on my life, my hopes, my aspirations, and my regrets in the summer of 2015.’
Hmmm, intriguing! Zayn’s also denied that the rumours of him cheating on Perrie in Thailand, which surfaced shortly before he quit One Direction and which he denied, had an effect on his decision to leave the band.
‘The two things never really coincided in my mind,’ he says. ‘Obviously, publicly, that’s the way it worked, because it worked well for the purpose. Them two stories looked good together side by side.
‘Stories came out because we were in Thailand, and we were out and about. If we were out in Australia, if we were out in India, the same thing would have happened. It was just at a peak where the fame was intrusive and invasive.
‘It wasn’t because of that that I left – that was just a contributing factor to everything. I’d already made my mind up before that.’
