As One Direction's Made In The AM and Justin Bieber's Purpose gear up to go head-to-head in the album charts, 1D's Niall Horan reckons there's can only be one winner...
It’s a big day in music tomorrow, as both One Direction and Justin Bieber release new albums – and the battle for the number one spot is set to be tighter than Barry from EastEnders’ jumper in the new Milk Tray Man video (i.e. WELL tight).
With shedloads of pre-sales for each act, it’s too close to call whether 1D or the Biebs will come out victorious.
But, despite speculation flying over which act will top the charts, the One Direction boys don’t really see it as a competition – according to Niall Horan.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Niall said: ‘It’s happened to us before. We’ve released albums on the same day as Rihanna and stuff like that, but it just happens to be – on the internet – made into a big deal that it’s Bieber.
“But it’s fine – he’s got good tunes, we’ve got good tunes, and we don’t really see it as who’s going to win.’
Niall adds that there can only be one winner in the whole thing: pop culture.
“If anything it’s good for pop culture that something like this is going to happen. There’s no fighting involved at all.”
Whilst lovely Niall isn’t bothered about beating Bieber, he is nervous ahead of the release of his band’s fifth album, Made In The AM – their first as a four-piece, and their last before they take a break next year.
‘When you’re making the album you don’t really get that nervous – you don’t think about it,’ Niall said.
‘It’s only when it gets closer to the actual release date when you’re doing promo, talking about it, releasing songs and stuff like that when it becomes quite nerve-racking.
‘It’d be stupid to say that it’s not, because when you’re making it you love it because it’s your stuff, but you obviously don’t know what people are going to think of it.’
Don’t worry Niall, we’re sure we’ll LOVE it!
