As Khloé Kardashian continues to support estranged husband Lamar Odom, is she about to pay the biggest price for their future?
She’s halted plans to finalise their divorce and, as she continues to stand by him after his shock collapse at a Las Vegas brothel three weeks ago, Khloé Kardashian, 31, has been a pillar of strength for Lamar Odom while he battles pneumonia and kidney damage. However, she finally broke down in tears at sister Kim’s baby shower as it dawned on her that standing by the love of her life could mean she may never become a mum.
A source close to the family says: ‘Khloé is exhausted and felt totally overwhelmed by everyone asking what’s happening with her and Lamar. She was sobbing: “We don’t know if he’ll walk or talk properly again. Right now he’s an invalid. I don’t know what to feel.”

‘Khloé and Lamar tried to start a family while married but had fertility problems. As much as she’s hoping she’s getting her fairytale ending, she’s worried that it will come at a very high price and that she’ll miss out on her dream of becoming a mother by taking care of Lamar. Of course she’ll look after him, but for her that will mean being trapped in the situation.’
In addition to her grave concerns about the extent to which Lamar’s body has been permanently damaged, Khloé can’t help fearing he could relapse into bad habits after his recovery. She’s seen how difficult that scenario has been for her sister Kourtney, 36, whose ex-partner and father of her three children Scott Disick, 32, is now in rehab battling his addictions. Our source says: ‘Khloé sees how much Kourt struggles with feeling guilty for giving her kids an untrustworthy dad who’s often let them down. Khloé doesn’t want that for her own children.’
Whether or not Khloé decides to commit to a future with Lamar, who turns 36 this week, she seems to be keeping her options open. Last week she flew to Texas support boyfriend of three months James Harden, 26, as he played basketball for the Houston Rockets. Confirming she and James are still a couple, she said in an interview last week, ‘He’s been great with me and I’m just allowing everything to unfold. If it’s ever too overwhelming [for him], then I understand that as well.’
