Queen of YouTube, Tanya Burr, wants to become a movie star!
Tanya Burr… She has the world in her hand. At the last count, she had – deep breath – 3.2 million YouTube subscribers, 2.2million followers on Instagram, 1.6 million on Twitter, a hugely successful cosmetics range, a Very fashion collection, a book and – if all that wasn’t enough – a gorgeous husband to boot in the form of supercute Jim Chapman!
You’d think the lucky miss would be pretty content with her lot. But no! The greedy – er, strike that – ambitious 26-year old from Norfolk, wants even more! She wants to conquer Hollywood!
‘I’ve set myself a goal to secure a film role by the end of the year,’ Tanya’s revealed. ‘I’m not interested in playing the glamorous beauty. I’d like to be challenged, to get gritty parts! I love films that make you think, “That resonated with me,” like The Perks Of Being a Wall Flower!’
And to ensure that she can cut it on the big screen, the uber-talented social media star has been having acting lessons since January, has sorted herself an LA agent and is already meeting casting directors in Hollywood. Wow, watch her go!
However, she hasn’t always had confidence in her acting skills. Even though she used to write plays for her mates, she quit GCSE drama because she didn’t think she was good enough. ‘There was this girl in my class who was so talented,’ she revealed to Glamour. ‘It made me start to not enjoy drama. Everything I did, I’d think, “I’m not as good as her”’.
So in order to make a big splash over the pond, she’s having acting lessons with a pretty straight-talking tutor. ‘She’s wonderful but strict, ‘ Tanya says. ‘She’ll go ‘I don’t believe you. It’s not good enough.’ I love that because I trust she’ll make me better.’
