Liam Payne admits that being away on tour with One Direction made his relationship with ex Sophia Smith hard to carry on.

Millions of girls’ hearts would have been broken over the weekend as One Direction performed their last live show before going on hiatus, but the band’s very own Liam Payne has been feeling equally as heartbroken recently due to his break up with ex Sophia Smith.

The 22-year-old opened up about their recent split, telling The Sun that he was ‘absolutely devastated.’
Liam admitted that, you know, being part of the world’s biggest boy band was a bit too hectic and didn’t really help matters: ‘Being on the tour all his year and being away from her was so hard. We spent so much time apart.’
‘But in order to do right by somebody sometimes it’s better not to do what your heart wants, but to do what’s better for them.’
Aw – we get where you’re coming from Payno. And it kinda breaks our lil heart when you say things like that!
The pair met all the way back in secondary school, but didn’t start dating until 2013.
But if you’re thinking of joining the massive queue of girls who will no doubt be volunteering to be Liam’s next girlfriend in his life, then you might want to put the lipstick down and take a seat, because he’s going to just do his own thing for a little while.
‘Right now I’m looking forward to some alone time to figure out who I am and what I want to be.’
Good on you Liam. We couldn’t have thought of anything better.
So as well as figuring out what lil’ ol’ him is and wants to be, during their hiatus, we could see Liam doing some song-writing for other popstars as he’s said that he’d like to take a bit more of a behind-the-scenes role in the music industry in the future of his career.
Well, if you ever need a song-writing buddy, or someone to bring round Ben & Jerrys and watch Bridget Jones with, you know where we are Liam…
