Congratulations on your baby, Tom Hardy and Charlotte Riley!
Tom Hardy and his wife Charlotte Riley deserve a BIG congratulations today, after news surfaced that they have given birth to their first child. The announcement comes just seven weeks after Charlotte unveiled her baby bump at the premiere of Legend, which Tom starred in.
As we, ahem, patiently await further news about the newborn – boy or girl? What’s the name? We need to know! – we’ve rounded up the top 6 reasons why Tom Hardy is going to be the best dad ever:
He’s a fab dad already
He’s already a doting father to his son, Louis, from his previous relationship with Rachel Speed. It’s especially admirable that the former couple maintain a good relationship for the sake of their son, with Rachel even attending her ex’s wedding to Charlotte Riley.

He’s got the whole strong protective thing down
Anyone who’s seen Tom as Bane in The Dark Knight Also Rises will know that he plays the tough guy VERY well. In other words, there’s no way he’ll let anyone pick on his kids in the playground, otherwise they will be in big trouble.
He likes giving cuddles
As demonstrated by the fan Instagram account named ‘Tom Hardy Holding Dogs’, Tom spends a lot of time cradling pooches in his arms. He also keeps two rescue dogs. Clearly a very loving person, we can only imagine how cute and affectionate Tom will be to his new son or daughter.
He’s passing on some great genes
Tom won the Big Breakfast’s Find Me a Supermodel competition back when he was 21, scoring a contract with modelling agency Models One. Plus, have you SEEN Charlotte Riley? Their kid is certainly going to be a looker!
He can be in two places at once
In Legend, Tom plays a pair of twins: Ronnie AND Reggie Kray. Yup, both parts. With the stress of having another young child, we reckon that his ability to be in two places at once will come in super handy. What, it’s just a clever camera trick?! Surely not!
Being a father is everything to him
In a recent interview with Hello, Tom said: ‘Being a father has given me the kind of purpose that makes you think more carefully about how you live your life. I take great pride in being a father and make sure I’m there for him and helping him as he makes his way in the world. “It’s the best thing I could have wished for.’ Awww!
