Girls star Lena Dunham has shared a snap from her upcoming cameo on The Simpsons - which sees her character date Homer after he splits from wife Marge
First there was Brad and Jen. Then Emma and Andrew, and Gwen and Gavin. And now another of our all-time favourite famous couples have split, leaving us utterly devastated – and it’s all Lena Dunham‘s fault. Well, kinda.

The Girls star took to Instagram this morning to share a shot of her apparent new lover in all his bright-yellow glory.
Yes, we said bright-yellow, because her new man is none other than Homer Simpson, who we will see split from his long-term wife Marge on an upcoming episode of The Simpsons. Sob!
And now Lena – or, rather, the Simpsons character that the star has lent her voice to – has revealed herself as the other woman in Homer’s life (and, from the looks of Lena’s latest Instagram snap above, his bed too).
This week’s season premiere of the long-running show will see Homer and Marge go their separate ways after the beer-loving power station worker’s long-term narcolepsy puts a strain on their marriage, causing them to give a trial separation a go.
Homer then meets pharmacist Candace – AKA Lena – whom he goes on to date. We can hardly take it!
Lena – who is dating musician Jack Antonoff in real life – shared the snap of Candace and Homer in bed together on her Instagram account last night, writing: ‘I have the tremendous/horrendous fortune of waking up next to Homer this Sunday on The Simpsons #homewrecker #sexualhealing.’
Still, it’s not the first time Homer and Marge have split – they also called it quits in The Simpsons Movie, but eventually reconciled. Here’s hoping they can do the same this time around!
Some of Lena’s fellow Girls co-stars including Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Allison Williams are also set to make appearances in the episode that marks the start of what will be the show’s 27th season. Exciting!
