'Heeeey, yooooooou guuuys!' It's been 30 years since The Goonies made its film debut, can you believe it? See what Chunk and the gang look like now...
Clik here to view.

There’s quite a few films we remember from our childhood which we desperately wished we’d been part of – Bugsy Malone, Peter Pan, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory – but above all we’d have loved to have been a Goonie. That scene where they bomb it down a disguised waterslide, the treasure, the secret kisses in the dark – we loved it all. We even loved Gonk – once we realised what a big softie he was.
Can you believe it’s been 30 years since the film first, hit our screens? Yes, that makes us feel a little old too. In fact, since watching the movie again (in our 30s), there’s certain things that raised our less-naïve eyebrows: The pirate’s name, One-Eyed Willy, really?! And all the creepy up-the-skirt shots of Kerri Green who played Andy – was that really necessary?
But, let’s park those thoughts for a moment, and remember how awesome it was instead. Imagine finding that map and going on the search of proper pirate treasure, then finding it – and defeating the nasty baddies along the way! Amazing!
So what do Mickey, Chunk, Mouth, Brand, Data, Andy and Stef look like now? And what have they been up to? Well…
Corey Feldman, who played Mouth
The 80s was a HUGE decade for Corey’s career. As well as The Goonies, he starred in Stand By Me, The Lost Boys, Gremlins and was the voice of Donatello in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film.
Despite his success, Corey‘s personal life was deeply troubled. He claimed his parents beat him (‘I couldn’t be abused too badly when I was working because they didn’t want me to have bruises,’ he later told an interviewer) and became legally emancipated from them at the age of 15. He began drinking and smoking pot while filming Stand by Me at 14, and his experimentation with drugs soon spiraled into full-blown addiction. Already worth millions, in 1990, at the age of 19, he was arrested for possession of cocaine and heroin. After two more drug arrests, he checked in for a 10-month stint in rehab in 1991.
He also testified in Michael Jackson‘s child molestation case in 2005, after the pair became close when Corey was still young. Corey accused him of damaging his childhood by befriending him then abandoning him.
Since then, Corey has stared in a few low-profile filmd. In January 2014, he started hosting a show on Battlecam.com called Corey’s Angels Talk Live.
Jeff Cohen, who played Chunk
Despite playing the well-loved Chunk, the scaredy-cat, who took comfort in food – especially chocolate – Jeff has done little acting since The Goonies. He went on to study law at Berkley University, then UCLA School Of Law, where he graduated from in 2000. Following his academic success, he became and Entertainment Lawyer and started his own company Cohen & Gardner – he’s still a practicing lawyer.
Martha Plimpton, who played Stef
God, wasn’t Stef such a know-it-all! She was like that one girl at school who just had all the answers and was bossier than the head mistress, but her secret crush on Mouth was really sweet and adorable.
After the film, Martha’s had a long and successful career in film and TV acting – most memorably in the TV series Raising Hope and playing Patti in The Good Wife, a role which scooped her a Emmy.
Josh Brolin, who played Brand
Hands up who had a teeny-tiny crush on Brand… yup, us too! In fact, he’s still pretty dreamy!
After playing the typical high-school hottie, Josh has has huge success as an action-film actor. You may have spotted him in movies such as No Country For Old Men, American Ganster, True Grit and the voice of Thanos in this year’s Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Sean Astin, who played Mikey
Hello, Samwise Gamgee! Yes, after going on one treasure hunt mission for One-Eyed Willy’s stash, Sean then got dragged around the likes of Mordor as Frodo Baggins’ side-kick in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy. That’s been his biggest role to date but he’s also starred in TV series 24.
Kerri Green, who played Andy
Sadly, after being the typical girly-dreamer in The Goonies, we’ve seen little of Kerri. She has landed a few low-key film roles and co-founded a movie production company, Independent Women Artists.
Ke Hu Quan, who played Data
Data was the real-life kids version of Inspector Gadget, with his coat full of tricks and nifty oil-spitting shoes. Before he starred in The Goonies, a 12-year-old Ke was Harrison Ford‘s sidekick in Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom, where he was awesome! Since The Goonies he has only done three films, but has worked as a stunt choreographer on the likes of X- Men. How cool is that!
