This year Children In Need are urging the entire Nation to dress up as their favourite childhood heroes and these celebs are the first to rise to the challenge!
Children In Need gets bigger every year – and 2015 is shaping up to be the most exciting one yet!
At one time or another we have all wished we could step into the shoes of our favourite character from our childhood, and thanks to the Children In Need campaign this year, we all finally have the perfect excuse!
Not only is it exciting, childish and nostalgic, but it also means raising money for an amazing cause – so start planning your outfit!
Rochelle Humes, Dermot O’Leary, Sir Terry Wogan, Nick Grimshaw, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Tess Daly have all joined in with the charitable fun and have dressed up as their own personal childhood hero.
Dermot O’Leary’s choice was known as one of the principal figures of Antarctic Exploration, and was a real hero of his time. He said: ‘My childhood hero was the explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton. As a young lad, who wouldn’t want to be an explorer? It’s been great fun to don the fancy dress for BBC Children in Need; please do show your support and do the same!’
Rochelle Humes chose an extremely popular superhero. The Xrta Factor presenter said: “Wonder Woman is the epitome of a strong female role model. I had such fun finally getting the chance to dress up as her, and I hope everyone across the UK enjoys dressing up as their childhood hero for BBC Children in Need this year. It really will go on to make a difference.”.
Rochelle’s X Factor co-worker, Nick Grimshaw, chose to dress up as Liam Gallagher. The Radio 1 DJ said: “When it came to picking someone to dress up as I really did struggle, but Liam Gallagher had to be my final choice. His music was the soundtrack to my childhood.”
Sir Terry Wogan chose singing cowboy Gene Autry, while Tess Daly picked Sandy from our favorutie musical, Grease, and Sophie Ellis-Bextor went with the timeless Mary Poppins.
Even if your costume isn’t as glamarous as Rochelle Humes’ or as utterly hilarious as Nick Grimshaw’s, you should still get creative and get involved!
David Ramsden, Chief Executive of BBC Children in Need says: “Whatever you do, whether it is a day spent dressed as your childhood hero, a bake sale at work or a ramble with friends it will help BBC Children in Need give children and young people right here in the UK the childhood they deserve.”
