The latest Strictly Come Dancing contestant has been revealed, and it's ex-boybander Jay McGuinness!
We haven’t heard much from the ex-members of The Wanted since they disbanded last year – apart from Nathan Sykes and his solo efforts – but Jay McGuinness is going to be back in a very sparkly way indeed on Strictly Come Dancing.
He popped into Radio 1 earlier and broke the news to Matt Edmondson live on air, revealing that his family will be his biggest fans as he tries to hot-foot his way to victory.
‘My family are such huge Strictly fans, I know I’ve made them very happy by taking part!’ he said. ‘I can’t wait to get started! I love to dance but this is going to be so different from anything I have done before. I’m up for it!’
Well, we’re glad to hear you’re not going in against your wishes, Jay!
The last time Jay hit the headlines was when he and fellow Wanted bandmate Max George partied with Lindsay Lohan in 2013. We hope he’s toned down his wild ways since then, because Strictly is known for having a gruelling training regime.
Jay will be joining Peter Andre, Anthony Ogogo, Kellie Bright, Georgia May Foote, Jeremy Vine, Ainsley Harriott, Katie Derham, Carol Kirkwood and Daniel O’Donnell on the show.
We’re sure Jay can pull out a few smooth moves from his days in The Wanted – after all, he’s got his family to impress, and Lindsay Lohan might even be watching!
